About Dr. Lisa Schwartz

I’m a physician trained in three things most doctors never combine: internal medicine, cancer care, and integrative medicine. I use all three to help women in midlife stay strong, healthy, and whole.

My Path

I started in internal medicine and went on to specialize in radiation oncology. I’m board certified in both. For years I treated patients with cancer, and I saw — over and over — how much their daily habits affected their treatment, their recovery, and the years that followed. What they ate. Whether they moved. How they slept. How they handled stress.

That pulled me toward integrative medicine. I completed an Associate Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, founded by Dr. Andrew Weil. The fellowship trains physicians to combine conventional medicine with nutrition, movement, mind-body practices, complementary therapies, and the lifestyle changes that actually move the needle on long-term health.

Because I wanted to see pateints make lasting changes in their lives, I also became an AFPA Master Certified Health and Wellness Coach. Coaching isn’t medicine. It’s the part where we sit down together and figure out what you’re actually going to do on a Tuesday at 6 p.m. Coaching takes the prescription and puts it into action.

Why I focus on women in midlife on GLP-1's

GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide work. They’ve helped many women lose weight they couldn’t lose any other way. But two things happen that don’t get enough attention:

  • Muscle goes down with the fat. That matters more after 40 than at any other point in life.

  • The weight tends to come back when the medication stops — unless you’ve built the habits to keep it off.

This is the gap I help women close. We protect muscle while you’re on the medication. We build a plan for what happens when you taper off. And we work on the rest of midlife — sleep, stress, hormones, energy — at the same time.

How I work

I look at the whole person. That means your nutrition, movement, stress, sleep, and how you're actually living. Then we make changes that fit your real life, not a fantasy version of it.

You won't get a supplement list you don't need or jargon you have to look up. If a habit or treatment is working for you, let's keep it. If it isn't, let's figure it out together. Your time and your energy are limited, and the plan you leave with should respect that.

The work is collaborative. You bring what you already know about your body and what you've tried before. I bring what I know about medicine and midlife. The plan we build together is one you can actually live with — on a busy week, on a hard day, and even when your whole schedule falls apart.
